“The Variable Vector Countermeasure Suit (V2Suit) for Space Habitation and Exploration”
Abstract: The V2Suit is an in-vehicle countermeasure suit for sensorimotor adaptation and musculoskeletal deconditioning in microgravity. The V2suit will provide viscous resistance to motion against a specified direction of “down”. It will consist of a network of wearable modules on the body segments, each containing an array of control moment gyroscopes. The CMGs will be coordinated to generate torque to feel like a gravitational torque acting on the limbs. Motion tracking algorithms have been developed for the system. Additionally a miniature CMG array is being designed.
