Pilot physiological monitoring to understand and prevent hypoxia-like symptoms.
Abstract: Hypoxia has been one of the most important problems in aviation medicine since high-altitude balloon flight in 1875. We will be discussing the various etiologies of hypoxia in the cockpit, with a particular focus on the F-22 investigation in recent years. Furthermore, I will present a research proposal that takes advantage of wearable, mask-mounted sensors in order to distinguish between the two most common types of hypoxia.
