Suits for space and sea: combatting extreme pressure environments
Abstract: Space suits and atmospheric dive suits were designed to counteract unfavorable pressure environments. However, these suits are often difficult to operate. This talk will provide an overview of the current Navy atmospheric dive suit, research progress to improve the suit, and an introduction to modeling techniques being developed to simulate the mechanics of wearable systems. These modeling techniques are mainly being developed for space suits, but can also be applied to dive suits.
