Title: Wearable Technology Impact: study through the development of a soft-orthotic device

Speaker:  Carlos Alves da Costa Goncalves, MIT Portugal Program

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to understand how new technologies in wearable textiles can bring advantages for society and textile business industries. The strategy to accomplish the goal is based on the development of wearable transducers and their integration into a system that is relevant in the field of health and wellbeing, safety, home rehabilitation, assessment of treatment efficiency and sports. The development of a wearable transducer brings many usage and technical requirements for the development of the sensors and actuators individually, the combination of sensors and actuators into an integrated transduction solution embedded into a textile substrate it is a challenging process
